GRAVURE is a 21st-century engraving. The black mark is dominant, as in plates of a previous time, but the white mark is in contention and battles for ascendancy in an ongoing live event. A silent work, wherein a mirrored hand performs—pushing against flesh, filling the frame, interacting with objects. The engraved mark echoes a past visual world of manual ingenuity—'from eye to hand to plate,' through the provision of another—'from eye to hand to screen.' GRAVURE is a drawing in time, a drawing that exists in the present continuous—mutable form and iridescent tonality, strangely familiar, but not.
