This work is from a series of still life paintings that focus on found or discarded objects. The tablecloth was found in a pile of discarded linen at a flea market. These hand-crocheted cloths were once treasured and in daily use but have long since been cast off. The flower from my garden was picked at the end of the season as it held on to its last bright blooms. This painting demonstrates how objects that are often overlooked are given a new respect and status through the genre of still life.
