Still Way is part of an ongoing series of drawings derived from observations of ripples in still water as an analogy to a mind in which distractions arise yet are not clung to but return to stillness. Still Way is made by drawing gradations of graphite points in ordered, measured arrangements. This is done to create the appearance of an undulation of the paper’s surface focused on circularity. From afar, the drawing may appear empty of any activity. Nearby, one can see each drawn mark revealing an optical transformation from eye to hand.
