The Presence of Light is a drawing from a piece of foliage that was blown down by the wind. I found this image to be very beautiful despite the fact that it is in the process of decomposition. The varied textures of the plant were challenging to draw, as the papery bract which carries the seeds has a translucency when decomposing. For me, the light on the subject is crucial, as are the shadows that help create a believable form.
