Sketching directly on the bustling streets of Hong Kong, I gathered a range of information and attempted to pin down that experience of being immersed in all that energy, sound, and movement. How to translate these disparate strands and distill that immediate experience to one sheet of paper back in London? The resulting drawing is not about one moment in time but a history of those experiences in Hong Kong, in conversation with my decision-making processes in the studio. The final composition is larger than I am, inviting the spectator to enter the drawing, becoming part of that experience.
