Ford is a 4-plate etching of a grave located in Ford Cemetery, Bootle. Each organism that grows on the bodies beneath is meticulously observed. Ford is part of a larger research project examining various burial sites through observational drawing and grieving rituals, exploring the ways the resting place of the body can become a catalyst for growth. Each section of Ford takes up to 270 hours to draw; a devotional practice requiring intense periods of time, focus, respect, and reverence paralleling the intention of rosary prayers and other funerary obits repetitively performed by parishioners to preserve the memory of the deceased.
