Holding its position against the wind, a hawk balanced until it began to dive for prey. Tiny adjustments were made to hover mid-air and then, with a wing tucked, it dropped free-fall. The bird reset to repeat the process again and again.
This drawing is a recollection and translation of shapes made in the air. It is a way to fossilize observations and pin them into memory while allowing new shapes to form.
Thoughts of natural history displays emerged: pinned insects, wax models, and suspended skeletons.
