In a very literal sense, my sleeping great-grandmother has dropped her reading material to her lap and her hand has dropped to support her spectacles, which are slipping from her eyes. It seems that she has moved from a physical connection with the world to an internal one—a dream state of rest and reflection. The mirror in the sideboard behind reinforces the idea of a reflective relationship between reality and inner being.
