Unbleached linen - Handwoven (digital) 'damask'

[Dinner Service] explores the table (and tablecloth) as a symbol of gathering and feasting, using the technique of figured damask to ‘weave-in’ the everyday tableware of an imagined community. The seventy objects represented range from Belleek porcelain and Irish glass, to the ubiquitous ‘willow pattern’ and Sheffield steel—each carrying their own narratives. Handwoven from some of the last linen spun in Northern Ireland before mill closures in 1997, the work pays tribute to generational know-how of linen production, weaving together history, tradition, and community, where objects, heritage, and tactile experiences coexist at the same table.
